Information
All artwork is produced by hand, created from raw materials I have personally hand selected. Conservation and preservation are primary concerns in the overall construction of my work. The intent is to provide longevity that will far surpass my lifespan and future generations to come. All of the work is guaranteed to be 100% original in its development and style, and is fully archived for historical placement. To date there have been no commercial reproductions of my work out of personal devotion to the creation and integrity of original fine art.
My work has developed out of the Expressionist movement in that I have incorporated many of the thoughts and ideas dating back to its inception in the late 19th century. Although, with so many distinctly different approaches and styles of those considered to be expressionists, the term almost seems generic and not very descriptive of the groups within the movement. In general, my work tends to flow with the freedom of a child's scribble. Expressive gestural lines are counter balanced by vibrant colors and rhythmic textures, combined with a wide variety of varying styles and thoughts, in the spirit of the expressionists, within each composition. As I have intermingled many of the thoughts and ideas of the expressionists, in conjunction with the developing 21st century, a new and unique style of fine art has emerged.
Oil paintings are all hand made with a heavy grade of cotton canvas, stretched and primed with 2 heavy coats of gesso on a custom frame treated with a polyurethane finish. Heavy amounts of pure oil paint are usually applied in rhythmic patterns within the constraints of a free flowing line. Watercolors are very similar to my oils with vibrant colors, bold gestural designs, and heavy applications of pigment creating unique surface qualities. One major difference between my watercolors and oil paintings is the destructive process my watercolor paintings undergo in order to create the surface texture of the paper with volume similar to my oil paintings.
Prints are made from oil-based inks on acid free papers. Most of my prints are renderings of existing oil paintings however are treated as original works of art due to the different production properties. The textural surfaces of my prints are quite unique in that surfaces tend to consist of waves of very heavy applications of ink applied in a controlled manner. Similar to my watercolors and oil paintings, surface quality, color balance and strong use of line tend to dominate the format of my compositions.
Sculptures are made from a wide range of materials. The greater percentage of my sculptures are made of stone: Marble, Soapstone, Alabaster and Sandstone. I often combine stone and exotic woods as the two materials complement each other creating a natural harmonizing effect. the sculptural work is generally a non-representational geometric form, full of contrasting textures and free flowing contours.
